Welcome the holiday season with the Society’s annual performance of Handel’s masterpiece reflecting on the birth, death and resurrection of Christ, featuring the stirring “Hallelujah” Chorus.
This year, the 60-voice chorus will be joined by soloists from Pensacola Opera’s Artists in Residence program, as well as the Choral Society Orchestra.
First performed in 1741, Messiah holds a place as one of the best-known and most beloved works in the classical repertoire. It has played an important role in the history of the Choral Society, which grew out of a performance of selections at a meeting of the Music Study Club of Pensacola in 1935 and which has presented the work, at least in part, every year since.
